Summary:

Scrambling is a step up from mountain walking and involves climbing steep off trail mountain routes with your hands and feet. It can be incredibly rewarding knowing you've taken the 'hard' way to a summit and experience a more physical way of exploring the hills. On this course we will introduce you to all the skills needed to make good descisions and how to progress with this amazing style of mountaineering.

Who's it for?

Our scrambling course is for physically fit hikers looking to challenge themselves further in the hill. Course is open to 16+ 

Kit Needed:

All climbing kit is provided, a full kit list will be sent prior to starting the course.

​Itinerary:

Our normal start time and meeting point is 9:00am at Ogwen Cottage in the Owgen Valley. Most of the crags are within walking distance, however occasionally we use some further away which are best suited for the course. Your own transport is advantageous however sharing lifts and car pooling can be arrange if we visit a slightly further away location. We will advise you if your instructor is planning on using a location further away before starting the course. We aim to be finished around 4:30pm.

How to book:

To book its super simple, we have 'Open Courses' which run regularly throughout the year on set dates. Just select which date works for you and book online below. 

If the open dates don't suit or you'd rather have us all to yourself, select 'Book Privately' and we will run this course completely private and bespoke to you, on the date you request. Your course will run consecutively from that date. We need a minimum of 2 people to book.

FAQ's

We will supply you with all the kit you need! Thats shoes, chalk, harness, helmet the full works! We only use proper climbing equipment not crotch busting harnesses and normal group kit like many others use, if you're going to learn to climb then use the kit you're going to buy is our moto. If you have and like to use your own thats also no problem.

  • Headtorch 

We keep a very close eye on the weather at all times. If its just looking a little damp, overcast or showery the course will go ahead as normal and most of the time its never as bad as met office makes out! We are experts at finding dry and suitable areas to train you and our local knowledge is second to none. If however the weather is looking terrible for the duration of the course then you will be given the choice of re-booking onto another session later in the year and we will prioritise your booking over any new ones we receive.

All our staff are qualified and assessed by the Mountain Training Association and have years of coaching and instructing experience and all participants are covered for all activities via our public liability insurance.

How to Find Us

The Snowdonia National Park is a Mountaineer's and Multi-pitch climbers playground. We love being in the mountains and getting to share our experience with you in this stunning place is a privilege. We normally start this course in the Ogwen valley as we have access to a whole variety of amazing multi-pitch venues within a short walking distance from the main carpark.
